Garnettisamongst thevery few headlining UK jazz musiciansatLondon’sfamousRonnieScott’sclub andanintegralpart ofitshouse band"TheAll Stars".Hehas beenin residency at the club for over9 years presenting his“late show”which playshosttoakaleidoscopeofworldclassjazzmusicians.As aregular sidemanofchoice fortouringartistsAlexhasperformedin over 30countries worldwide appearing atprestigious venuessuchas the Blue Note,Lincoln centre,Birdland, Porgy and Bess,Jimmy glass,Room full of Blues, Jazz Cafeand the Sage as wellas playing atthe crossroads festival,Umbria Jazz, Cork, Rochester NY,Montreuxand OsloJazz Festivals, Zermatt Unplugged,the North Sea Jazz FestandtheBlue note at seacruisetoname but a few. He has clockedupmany hours of performance witha wide range ofartiststhat include Seth McFarlane, Ruby Turner, Sam Moore, Jimmy Page, Pee Wee Ellis, JohnHendricks, Van Morrison, Mike Gibbs, Wynton Marsalis,Kurt Elling,Doris Troy,ScottHamilton, Carlene Anderson, Houston Person,Otis Grand,Jools Holland, Buddy Greco,therolling stonesand MicheleLegrand.Personal musical influences includeCharlie Parker,Sonny Rollins,Joe Henderson andTim Armacost.In April 2011 Alex released his debutquartet CD and toured extensively as a leader showcasing all original compositions andreceiving ravereviews, including 4 stars from John Fordham. Twice voted amongst the topten Jazz albums list for 2011 (Jazzwise), his second album as a leader in 2015 on theillustrious Whirlwind label received similar attention gaining Alexfirstplace nominationinthe British jazz awards 2016.His latest Collaboration,“Martian time slip”released in 2019on Hardbop records showcases thealto saxophone and Alex’smouthpieceof choice, SYOS.
